Rules of the game for curling

Team size:
maximum 4 people per team.

Aim of the game
The aim is to shoot the ice stick as close as possible to the “stave” (target object). Points are awarded for each ice stick that is closer to the stave than that of the opposing team.

Playing field
The stave is located in the finish area at the end of the lane.

Playing equipment
Ice sticks – Each player has an ice stick. Daube – Small target object in the target area of the track.

Game procedure
Kick-off – teams take it in turns to shoot. The ice stick must cross the shooting line.
Aim of the turn – Place the ice sticks as close as possible to the stave. The stave may be moved.
Alternating shots – Each player has one shot per turn.

Scoring
After the turn, the position of the ice stick in relation to the stave is scored. The team with the closest ice stick receives 1 point per closer ice stick.

Game variations
Target shooting – the aim is to place the ice sticks as close as possible to the stave. Long range shooting – the aim is to shoot the sticks as far as possible.

End of the game
The game ends after a set number of sweeps (e.g. 6 to 12) or when a team reaches a certain number of points (e.g. 15 or 21 points). The team with the highest score wins.
